Definition

ProRes 4444 offers full 4:4:4 chroma sampling and optionally an alpha channel. It is the standard for VFX deliveries and footage with critical color edges.

Practical Application

VFX pulls and deliveries. Green screen footage. Compositing with alpha. Matte paintings and CGI renders. The alpha channel is lossless.

Technical Details

Chroma: 4:4:4. Bit depth: 12-bit (10-bit for alpha). Target bitrate: ~330 Mbps (1080p23.98). Alpha: Optional, 16-bit precision possible. Optimal for keying and compositing.
