DNxHR (Digital Nonlinear Extensible High Resolution) is Avid's further development of DNxHD for resolutions above 1080p. It offers various quality levels from Proxy to 444 for different workflows.
Practical Application
DNxHR is the standard intermediate codec for Avid Media Composer and is used by many post-production facilities. The quality levels (LB, SQ, HQ, HQX, 444) cover all requirements from offline editing to finishing.

DNxHR LB: ~45 Mbps (4K), for proxy. DNxHR SQ: ~150 Mbps, Standard Quality. DNxHR HQ: ~220 Mbps, High Quality. DNxHR HQX: 10-bit, ~350 Mbps. DNxHR 444: 12-bit 4:4:4, ~700 Mbps. All variants use intra-frame compression.
