The ARRI/Zeiss 11-110mm T2.2 is a classic Super 16 cine zoom, jointly developed by ARRI and Zeiss in the 1980s. T2.2 constant across its full 10x focal length range. It has been the undisputed most used cine zoom in the 16mm cine market since the 90s—comparable to the position of the Angenieux Optimo 24-290mm in the 35mm cine market.
Focal Length Logic
The 11-110mm range, in the Super 16 sensor format (11.66 × 6.66 mm, approx. 1/3 of the 35mm full-frame diagonal), covers a field of view range comparable to a 24-240mm full-frame zoom—wide-angle to telephoto in a single lens, which results in an extremely efficient setup logic for 16mm documentary and music videos.
2026 Market
With the 16mm music video revival of 2025/26 (see reports May-18, May-21, May-28), the 11-110mm is present as the primary setup lens in at least five out of six curated 16mm music video setups. In 'Zrkadla' (Timo Talapka, May-28): 8 out of 10 setups used the 11-110mm—the rest used an Optex Super Cine 8mm Ultra-Wide.
Rental Price and Availability
Rental price 2026: 250-400 EUR/day in Eastern European rentals (Warsaw, Prague, Bratislava), 400-600 EUR/day in Western Europe. Availability remains very high—many rentals keep at least 2-3 units per location.
Optical Character
Clean, precise, low-flare. Not a nostalgic vintage look—but a cine workhorse with good modern image quality, combined with the 16mm grain as the primary look factor. The ARRI/Zeiss construction tradition is evident in its consistency across the range (no significant sharpness drop-off at the extremes).
