Nanlite LED tube lights available in four lengths (28–118 cm, 18–72 W) with RGB color control, CRI ≥95, built-in battery, and IP65 rating for versatile on-set lighting.

Technical Details

The PavoTube series includes four lengths: 15C (118cm, 72W), 30C (58cm, 36W), 15X (118cm, 36W), and 6C (28cm, 18W). All models achieve a CRI of ≥95 and TLCI of ≥97. The C-series offers full RGB control with 36,000 color combinations, while the X-series is limited to bi-color (3200K-5600K). Integrated lithium-ion batteries provide 65-180 minutes of runtime at maximum brightness. Control is via DMX512, 2.4GHz wireless, or the Nanlink app via Bluetooth. Each tube weighs between 0.8-2.1kg and is IP65 certified.

History & Development

Nanlite launched the first PavoTube generation in 2018 in response to the growing demand for flexible LED solutions. In 2020, the revised C-series followed with improved battery technology and expanded control options. The X-series, introduced in 2021, focuses on cost reduction with a reduced feature set. Since 2022, accessories such as pixel control modes and special diffusers have complemented the system.

Practical Use in Film

DoPs primarily use PavoTubes as practical lighting sources inside vehicles where conventional fixtures cannot be positioned. The tubes simulate neon light for nightclub scenes or serve as eye lights behind monitors. In "The Midnight Sky" (2020), PavoTubes illuminated the space station interiors with cold blue light. The magnetic mounts allow for quick attachment to metal structures. Disadvantages: limited light output compared to tungsten sources and color shifts at extreme RGB settings.

Comparison & Alternatives

The main competitor is the Astera Titan Tube with higher light output (95W vs. 72W) but three times the price. Quasar Science Q-LED offers similar specifications at 40% higher cost. For budget productions, Ice Light or Aputure MC represent cheaper but less powerful alternatives. PavoTubes are suitable for mid-range production budgets with RGB requirements, while bi-color applications often justify more cost-effective solutions.
