Nanlite Forza 300: 300W COB LED light with Bowens mount, CRI ≥96, continuously dimmable 1-100%, silent operation up to 75% output.

Technical Details

The fixture is based on a COB (Chip on Board) LED with a color temperature of 5600K (±200K) and achieves a CRI value of ≥96 and a TLCI value of ≥97. The unit features a DMX512 interface, 2.4G radio control, and can be continuously dimmed from 1% to 100%. The Bowens mount allows for the use of standard light modifiers. The fanless design operates silently up to 75% power, and above that with a fan at a maximum of 20dB. Power is supplied via DC 48V/6.25A or optionally via V-mount batteries.

History & Development

Nanlite introduced the Forza series in 2019 in response to the growing demand for powerful, portable LED lights. The 300 model established itself as a mid-range option between the smaller Forza 150 and the more powerful Forza 500. In 2021, the Forza 300B followed with bi-color functionality (2700K-6500K). The Forza range positioned Nanlite as a serious alternative to established manufacturers like Aputure or ARRI.

Practical Use in Film

The Forza 300 is suitable as a key light for interviews, as fill light for exterior shots, or as a hard light source through windows. Gaffers appreciate the unit for run-and-gun productions where quick setups are required. With a 120cm softbox, the fixture produces soft portrait lighting, while with a Fresnel attachment, it creates precise accents. The low heat generation also allows for longer takes without ventilation breaks.

Comparison & Alternatives

Direct competitors include the Aputure Light Storm LS C300d II (same power class, but 1kg heavier) and the Godox SL-300III (cheaper, but lower color rendering). The Forza 300 offers the best value for money in its category with above-average color quality. For higher demands, the ARRI Orbiter serves as a premium alternative with extended color functions, but costs five times as much.
