60W LED panel with FM mount (Bowens via adapter), daylight color temp. Compact, dimmable, no heat output. Replaces tungsten fixtures in tight spaces — workhorse for run-and-gun and marathon shoots.

Technical Details

The Forza 60 utilizes COB LED (Chip on Board) technology, offering a CRI of 96+ and a TLCI of 97+. The color temperature is adjustable between 5600K and 5600K, while the light output is continuously dimmable from 10% to 100%. The cooling system features a 60mm fan that operates almost silently at low power. The Bowens mount allows for the use of standard light modifiers such as softboxes, reflectors, and snoots.

The unit can be controlled wirelessly via the 2.4 GHz radio remote or the Nanlite app. Power is supplied either by V-mount batteries or the included AC power adapter with a 90-240V input voltage.

History & Development

Nanlite introduced the Forza series in 2019 as a direct competitor to established manufacturers like Aputure. The Forza 60 was positioned as a cost-effective alternative to the Aputure Light Storm 60d, which dominated the market for compact LED panels. In 2020, Nanlite expanded the series with the Forza 60B, featuring bi-color functionality, and in 2021, with improved cooling systems for continuous full operation.

The development followed the trend towards battery-powered lighting solutions for content creators and independent filmmakers who require professional lighting quality without extensive infrastructure.

Practical Use in Film

The Forza 60 is suitable as a key light for interviews, fill light for exterior shots, or as an effect light through windows. In documentaries, it often replaces heavy tungsten lights as it can be used without cable runs. Its daylight balance makes it ideal for mixed lighting situations with existing natural light.

Gaffers use it in combinations of multiple units for larger light areas or as pinpoint accent lighting. Its low heat emission allows for use in small spaces or close to actors. The limited output becomes problematic for larger sets or when competing with hard daylight shadows.

Comparison & Alternatives

Compared to the Aputure Light Storm 60d, the Forza 60 offers similar performance at a lower price, but with a less mature accessory ecosystem. The Godox SL-60W uses Fresnel lenses instead of a Bowens mount and produces more directional light. Modern alternatives like the Nanlite Forza 60C with RGBWW LEDs expand creative possibilities with color effects.

For higher light output, productions opt for the Forza 150 or 300, while the Forza 60 retains its strengths in mobility and battery operation.
