Roscolux filters are made from polyester or dyed polycarbonate, depending on the color. In dyed (body-colored) polycarbonate, the dye is embedded within the material itself rather than being a surface coating, making the film more durable and color-stable in front of hot lights.
Usage on Set
The warm golden tone of the 316 is particularly suitable for:

- Replicating the character of incandescent lamps/artificial light
- Flattering, naturalistic backlight on skin and hair
- Warm area or background lighting
Like all color gels, the 316 is inserted into the light fixture's filter frame ("gel frame") or stretched in front of softboxes/panel lights. When calculating exposure, the light loss of approximately 0.8 stops must be factored in.
