Compact 1kW tungsten Fresnel spotlight by Mole-Richardson (model 2831 "Baby-Baby Solarspot") with minimal housing and reduced-spread lens for tight spaces.

Overview

"Baby Baby" is the common set designation for the Mole-Richardson Type 2831 "Molequartz Baby-Baby Solarspot" – a compact 1kW (1K) class tungsten Fresnel spotlight. The name follows Mole-Richardson nomenclature: the first "Baby" refers to the 1kW Solarspot housing series, and the second "Baby" refers to the particularly small Fresnel lens. This makes the Baby-Baby the smallest and lightest variant within the 1kW Solarspot family, distinguishing it from the larger 6" "Baby Solarspot" (Type 407/3081), which has a larger lens for the same output.

The fixture is used as a key, fill, or edge light. The "Molecool" paddle focusing on the front and back allows the beam to be continuously adjusted from spot to flood.

Set Usage

Due to its small housing and light weight, the Baby-Baby is particularly suitable for tight spaces and for mounting on grip equipment – such as Hangers, Trombones, Wall Sleds, and Wall Plates. The lid flips open to the rear for lamp changes. The attached cable (Mole standard: 25 ft, Type SO, with Edison plug) allows direct connection without an adapter.

As a tungsten fixture, the Baby-Baby delivers a warm 3200K light that is easily dimmable and mixes well with other tungsten sources; for daylight setups, a CTB correction (blue gel) is required.
