SDR (Standard Dynamic Range) refers to conventional video with approximately 6 stops of dynamic range during playback, defined by Rec.709 and standard gamma. The opposite of HDR.
Practical Application
The majority of all video content is SDR. Broadcast, DVD, Blu-ray (non-UHD), Web video. SDR mastering remains relevant, even as HDR increases.

Display: Typically 100-400 nits. Gamma: 2.2-2.4. Color Space: Rec.709. Bit Depth: 8-bit (consumer) to 10-bit (broadcast). Peak White/Black defines contrast ratio.
