Definition

S-Log2 is Sony's second-generation Log curve, introduced with the F65 and FS700. It offers good dynamic range with slightly easier handling than S-Log3.

Practical Application

Legacy format, but still available on many Sony cameras. Projects started with FS7/FS5 often use S-Log2. Slightly more contrasty base than S-Log3.

Technical Details

~14 stops of dynamic range. Middle Gray: 32% IRE. Knee point at ~90% output. S-Gamut as companion (or S-Gamut3). Sony provides official LUTs.
