Definition

RED offers several log curves: Log3G10 is the modern standard with 10 stops above middle gray. REDLogFilm emulates film characteristics. REDLog3G10 with REDWideGamutRGB is the recommended combination.

Practical Application

All RED cameras record R3D RAW, which can be decoded into various log spaces. Colorists choose the appropriate log output depending on their workflow.

Technical Details

Log3G10: 10 stops above middle gray. REDWideGamutRGB as the companion gamut. ISO 800 = Native ISO for optimal S/N. RED offers its own IPP2 Color Pipeline as an alternative to ACES.
