Green correction filter (Plus Green) that adds a green cast to daylight and tungsten sources to balance fluorescent or HID lighting.
"Window Green" is a common trade and scene name for a full Plusgreen correction filter (lighting gel). The best-known product is Rosco Cinegel 3304, which is also marketed as "Tough Plusgreen," "Full Plusgreen," or "Windowgreen" depending on the distributor; the approximately equivalent counterpart at LEE Filters is the 244 Full Plus Green.
The filter adds a controlled green cast to daylight and artificial light sources (daylight HMI, Tungsten). The goal is to color-match these lights to fluorescent or other discharge lamps, whose spectrum has a characteristic green component ("spike"). This allows for the unification of mixed lighting situations on set, where practical fluorescent lighting remains in the frame and the film lights are intended to match it.
Fluorescent and discharge lighting produce a green cast that lies on the magenta-green axis (tint, in addition to the actual color temperature in Kelvin). There are two correction directions:
Window Green is therefore not an effect or color filter, but a light correction filter for the tint axis. It is typically used at full strength; graduated versions (Half, Quarter Plus Green) exist.

Window Green is used when fluorescent tubes or other discharge lamps are a visible part of the set and are not to be replaced. The film lights are then gelled with Plusgreen so that their green component matches that of the practicals. Subsequently, the entire green cast can be corrected together – via the camera's white balance, using a magenta/minusgreen filter on the lens, or in grading.
Since the filter is made of heat-resistant, deeply dyed base material, it is designed for use directly on hot lights (e.g., over barndoors or in the filter frame). In modern practice with RGBW LED fixtures, the Plusgreen correction is increasingly achieved via the tint/green-magenta control of the device, but the physical gel remains relevant for Tungsten and HMI sources.
