Rosco 3407 (RoscoSun CTO / Full CTO) is a Cinegel color conversion filter that converts daylight (~5500 K) to tungsten light (~2900 K).
Overview
Rosco 3407 is a color conversion gel (light filter/"gel") from the Cinegel series by manufacturer Rosco. It is designated RoscoSun CTO and represents the full CTO (Color Temperature Orange) grade. "CTO" stands for Color Temperature Orange: an orange filter that lowers the color temperature of a light source, converting daylight (cool, bluish light) into warmer artificial light (tungsten). Thus, 3407 is the counterpart to the blue CTB gels, which raise artificial light to daylight levels.
The gel is manufactured using the deep-dye process on a heat-resistant polyester base, where the dye is embedded within the material rather than merely applied to the surface. This makes the material comparatively temperature-stable and resistant to fading compared to surface-coated gels.

On-Set Use
3407 is typically used in front of daylight sources (HMI, LED in daylight mode) or windows to match their light to an artificial light environment or to create a deliberately warmer image. Practical applications:
- Matching daylight to tungsten sources for color consistency in mixed lighting.
- Correction when incoming daylight exceeds 6000 K and appears too cool.
- Creating a warm "sunlight" look, for example, for interiors with an incandescent atmosphere or a golden hour mood.
Due to the light loss of approximately one stop, exposure must be adjusted accordingly. Intermediate grades like 1/2 CTO or 1/4 CTO allow for a less intense warmth shift when the full conversion would be too strong.
