Rosco 304 refers to the color gel Roscolux #304 "Pale Apricot" manufactured by Rosco. It is a transmissive color filter (shortened to "gel" in a set) that is placed in front of lighting fixture lenses or in filter frames to color the light. The hue is a pale peach-amber, placing it in the category of warm, decorative theater and party colors. Compared to the adjacent gel #305, #304 is slightly more yellow.
Roscolux is Rosco's standard filter series for stage and film/TV and includes color, color correction, and diffusion gels. #304 is classified as a pure color tone (not for color temperature correction like CTO/CTB).

Depending on the variant, Roscolux gels are manufactured on a polyester or polycarbonate substrate. Polycarbonate gels are more heat-resistant and designed for use close to hot lighting fixtures.

Since #304 is a color tone and not a calibrated color temperature correction, it is chosen based on the desired look, not for precisely matching light sources. Due to the moderate light loss of about one-third of an f-stop, the brightness is largely maintained.
