The RX-T panels are particularly suitable for interior shots in confined spaces where conventional Fresnels cannot be positioned. The flexible design allows them to be conformed to walls or ceilings for indirect lighting. In TV production, they are often placed as eye lights behind monitors or mounted as hair lights from above. The magnetic mounting points facilitate attachment to metal structures. Limitations become apparent in light output – the maximum luminosity is insufficient for daylight balancing or large sets. Color consistency may deviate slightly with prolonged use.
Compared to rigid LED panels like the Litepanels Astra, the RX-T mats offer more flexibility with lower light output. Compared to Arri SkyPanel or similar high-end solutions, extended color modes (RGB, effects) are missing, but the price is 70% lower. Competing flexible LED systems like the Intellytech LiteCloth or Quasar Q-LED offer similar specifications at a higher price. For larger productions with appropriate budgets, traditional HMI or Tungsten lights remain the first choice, while the RX-T series excels in budget-conscious productions and documentary work.
Als DoP schätze ich die RX-T für enge Drehorte, wo ich weiches, formbares Licht brauche – beispielsweise in Autos oder kleinen Apartments. Die schnelle Farbtemperatur-Anpassung zwischen Innen- und Außenaufnahmen spart mir Zeit beim Setup. Allerdings muss ich bei kritischen Beauty-Shots auf die leichte Farbabweichung bei längerem Betrieb achten.
Die flexiblen Panels geben mir als Regisseur mehr gestalterische Freiheit für spontane Lichtideen während des Drehs. Ich kann sie schnell umpositionieren, um die Stimmung einer Szene anzupassen, ohne dass mein Team große Leuchten umbauen muss. Besonders bei intimen Dialogszenen schaffe ich so subtile Lichtverläufe, die die emotionale Ebene unterstützen.
Die RX-T Serie reduziert meine Transportkosten erheblich – drei Panels passen in eine normale Ausrüstungstasche statt eines Van-Ladung Stufenlinser. Der niedrige Stromverbrauch spart Generatorkosten bei Außendrehs. Mit 800-1500 Euro pro Panel kalkuliere ich etwa ein Drittel der Kosten vergleichbarer Markenprodukte bei akzeptabler Qualität für Low-Budget-Produktionen.
