Motion Capture (MoCap) records actor movements to transfer them onto digital characters. Marker-based and markerless systems exist in parallel.

Practical Application

Gaming and film extensively use MoCap: "Avatar", "Lord of the Rings", "Planet of the Apes". Studios like Vicon, OptiTrack, and Move.ai (markerless) dominate the market.

Technical Details

Optical MoCap: Infrared cameras track reflective markers. Inertial MoCap: Sensors in suits measure movement. Markerless: Machine learning analyzes video. 120+ fps for detailed capture.
