Overview
Rosco 3308 is the product number for Cinegel #3308 "Tough Minusgreen", a correction filter (sheet/gel) from the Cinegel range by manufacturer Rosco. It is a full Minus Green filter: it removes the characteristic green cast from fluorescent tubes (Cool White / Daylight) as well as from many discharge lamps and basic LED sources, shifting the light towards neutral daylight (approx. 5500 K). The filter is magenta because magenta is the complementary color to green.
Important for context: Minus Green exclusively corrects the green/magenta component (on the tint axis), not the color temperature along the blue-orange axis. CTB/CTO filters are used for a pure warm/cool shift; in practice, Minus Green is often combined with a CTB/CTO filter to cleanly match mixed lighting to camera white balance or daylight.

Available as individual sheets (20" x 24"), as rolls (48" x 25 ft), and as so-called Roscosleeves – protective/filter sleeves for T5 and T8 fluorescent tubes, which can be used to directly cover existing practical tubes.
Use on Set
The typical use case is mixed lighting: when existing fluorescent tubes at the shooting location meet artificial or daylight, the green cast of the tubes otherwise causes unnatural skin tones. With 3308, the green component is eliminated, so that the sources match the rest of the lighting in terms of color.
- In front of the lamp: as a filter sheet in frames or barndoors, or pulled directly over the tube as a Roscosleeve.
- Full Strength: #3308 is the full Minus Green correction; for weaker corrections, there are graduated variants (e.g., 1/2 and 1/4 Minusgreen) in the Cinegel range.
- Combination: often used together with CTB or CTO to additionally adjust the color temperature.
Since the filter lets through about half of the light (55% transmission), the light loss must be factored into exposure planning.
