Overview
XEEN is the professional cine lens series from South Korean manufacturer Samyang Optics. In North America and parts of Europe, the lenses are distributed under the Rokinon brand – therefore, "Rokinon Xeen" and "Samyang Xeen" refer to the same optics with different labeling. XEEN is the common product name for the cine line, distinct from the more affordable photo/cine DS lenses from the same companies.
These are prime lenses with a full-frame image circle, positioned as a more affordable alternative to high-end cine sets. The lenses within a series are color-matched ex-factory and share uniformly positioned gear rings for focus and aperture, allowing a set to be assembled over time and operated with a follow-focus system.
Series
Several XEEN lines have been released over the years:
- XEEN (Original): First generation of cine primes with a metal housing; introduced with focal lengths including 24mm, 50mm, and 85mm (each T1.5), later expanded with additional focal lengths.
- XEEN CF: More compact, lighter generation with a carbon fiber housing, uniform front diameter, and resolution reserve up to 8K.
- XEEN Pro / CF Pro: Designated as professional variants of these lines.
Exact focal length and mount availability vary by series and model year; the specifications below refer to specific documented individual models.

On-Set Use
XEEN lenses are aimed at indie and mid-budget cine productions requiring a color-consistent, follow-focus-ready prime set at a comparatively low price. The uniformly positioned gear rings and long focus throw allow for precise focus pulls with motors or mechanical follow-focus systems without needing to reconfigure when changing focal lengths. Thanks to the available PL mount, the lenses can also be operated on classic cine bodies; the other mounts (EF, E, F, MFT) cover DSLR/mirrorless cameras.
