LED video panel from ROE Visual's Carbon series with 5.77 mm pixel pitch and carbon fiber frame, designed for touring and live events.

Overview

The Carbon CB5 (also known as "Carbon 5") is an LED video panel from ROE Visual's Carbon series. It is not a spotlight or a lamp, but a modular display unit that is assembled into larger LED walls. Its characteristic features are the lightweight carbon fiber chassis combined with a shallow depth, allowing modules to be quickly rigged, hung, and transported. ROE primarily positions the CB5 for touring productions, festivals, sports and advertising surfaces, as well as indoor and outdoor events; its high brightness and IP65 rating also make it suitable for protected outdoor use.

Frame and Rigging

The Carbon panels are typically built using ROE Visual's "Air Frame" system, a lightweight carbon fiber touring frame that combines hanging, stacking, and transport in one solution. ROE Visual specifies a maximum hanging height of 24 m and a maximum stacking height of 7.2 m for the Air Frame. For transport, one dolly can hold up to 16 full-size Carbon panels. The refresh rate of 3840 Hz reduces flicker and moiré in camera recordings, making the CB5 relevant for use in front of a camera.

Use on Set

In film and TV contexts, high-resolution, camera-friendly LED walls are primarily in demand as background and content displays, as well as in Virtual Production (LED volumes). With a pixel pitch of 5.77 mm, the CB5 is a comparatively coarse module and thus better suited for larger camera distances and stage/event surfaces than for close-up-capable volumes with a fine pitch. Relevant for set operation are the high maximum brightness, the low-flicker control, and the low module weight, which allows for quick setup and dismantling.
