Austrian production company founded in 1998 — film and television focus, collaborations with local and international directors. Strong Austrian TV heritage.

The Viennese production company Ziegler Film has established itself since its founding in 1998 as one of the most reliable names for German-language television and feature films. What sets the company apart: It works with great continuity—not constantly changing structural realignments as in some larger houses, but stable know-how over decades. You notice this in the work: The producers know their post-production, understand which editing suites have which requirements, and calculate realistically rather than with the wildest buffer margins.

Their strength lies in Austrian Public Broadcasting—primarily ORF—and in co-produced feature films for the German-speaking market. The collaboration with local directors as well as international partners works with little friction because there are no Byzantine decision-making cascades here. The producer is close to the production. This means specifically on set: If a scene runs long, there isn't an email chain; there's a quick decision. Every DoP and every director appreciates this.

A special feature of Ziegler Film is their understanding of TV productions that are time-compressed—20, 25 shooting days for a 90-minute format are standard, not the exception. This requires efficiency without haste. The camera crews the company works with are accordingly well-rehearsed. This is also evident in editing: Routines in coordination between the director and editor allow for faster iterations.

In the cinema sector, Ziegler Film works with small to medium-sized budgets, which doesn't mean insignificant. Quite the opposite—films are made here without unnecessary overhead, where every euro flows into picture and sound instead of production bureaucracy. Relevant for set calculation: Ziegler Film adheres to agreements, shooting schedules don't change constantly, and reshoot costs aren't hidden. This makes them calculable for service providers.
