Sony Venice

The Sony Venice is a professional digital cinema camera with a full-frame sensor (36 x 24 mm) and 6K resolution. Introduced in 2017, it combines full-frame optical characteristics with cinema-grade electronics.

Technical Highlights

  • Sensor: 36 x 24 mm full-frame
  • Resolution: 6048 x 4032 pixels (6K)
  • Dual Base ISO: 500 and 2500 native
  • Dynamic Range: 15+ stops
  • Recording: X-OCN (16-bit RAW), ProRes

Dual-ISO System

The Venice's innovative Dual-ISO system offers two native ISO values without compromising quality:

  • ISO 500 for daylight scenes
  • ISO 2500 for low-light without noise

This enables flexible available light work without additional lighting.

News

In March 2026, Sony released firmware update 6.00 for the FX6, bringing several features from the Venice series to the smaller camera. Particularly noteworthy is the integration of the BIG6 monitoring interface, originally developed for the Venice 2. The update also adds Blackmagic RAW output via HDMI and improved autofocus functions at various frame rates.
