Pouch filled with fake blood, positioned beneath costume at impact zone. SFX tech ruptures it on cue via squib or manual trigger. Timing determines whether the audience believes it.

What is a Blood Bag?

A Blood Bag is a bag filled with artificial blood, hidden under an actor's costume. When activated – usually by a squib or manual trigger – the bag bursts, simulating a bleeding wound.

Today

Blood Bags remain a core tool for practical blood effects. While CGI supplements, the authentic reaction of actors to real squib hits has a persuasive power that digital effects struggle to match – the shock, the timing, the physical reality.
