The Utility Stunt is not a double for a specific character, but the all-rounder in the stunt team. They are booked by the day or for a section and deployed where needed on that day.
Typical Deployments
- Falls and hits in fights and crowd scenes.
- Driving in the background when traffic needs to be choreographed.
- Risky extras — people running away from an explosion are not regular extras.
- Stepping in when a double is unavailable.
Why the Position Makes Sense
Because risk is not predictably tied to a character. As soon as someone falls, is hit, or runs in a scene, trained individuals are needed — even in the background. Assigning this to extras shifts the risk onto untrained people.
