Als DoP schätze ich am Bolt die absolute Latenzfreiheit – ich sehe exakt dasselbe Bild wie durch den Sucher, was bei kritischen Fokuszügen oder Komposition entscheidend ist. Die Metallgehäuse dämpfen das Signal stark, deshalb positioniere ich den Transmitter immer mit direkter Sichtlinie zum Video Village. Bei Steadicam-Shots ist das System unverzichtbar, da ich komplexe Bewegungen durchführen kann, während Regie und Skript live mitverfolgen können.
Mit dem Bolt kann ich mich frei am Set bewegen und jeden Take in Echtzeit beurteilen, ohne am Monitor gefesselt zu sein – das verändert komplett meine Arbeitsweise mit den Schauspielern. Bei improvisierten Szenen oder dokumentarischen Ansätzen kann ich spontan reagieren und Anweisungen geben, ohne den Kameramann zu unterbrechen. Die Möglichkeit, vier Empfänger zu nutzen, bedeutet dass auch mein AD und Script gleichzeitig die Kontinuität prüfen können.
Ein Bolt-Set kostet zwischen 3.000-8.000 Euro, amortisiert sich aber schnell durch eingesparte Zeit bei Kamerafahrten und weniger Wiederholungen durch bessere Kommunikation am Set. Die Akkus halten nur 2-3 Stunden, daher brauchen wir mindestens sechs NP-F-Batterien pro Drehtag – das summiert sich bei längeren Produktionen. Bei internationalen Koproduktionen muss ich die Frequenzbestimmungen prüfen, da das 5,8-GHz-Band nicht überall freigegeben ist.
