Overview
Lee 250 (product designation "250 Half White Diffusion", also "1/2 White Diffusion") is a diffusion filter from the British manufacturer LEE Filters. It is not a light source or grip equipment, but a gel filter that is placed in front of a light source to scatter and soften its light. The 250 belongs to LEE's "White Diffusion" series, a graduated family of diffusion filters of varying strengths; the 250 is in the mid-range of this series.
As light passes through the filter, the beam is distributed over a larger area. This results in softer shadows and reduced highlights without completely altering the light source's characteristics.
