German optics giant — from Super Speed (70s) to Master Prime to Supreme. The benchmark for technical perfection.

ZEISS from Oberkochen has been building optics for over 170 years. In the cinema sector, ZEISS sets the benchmark for technical excellence: The Master Primes (developed with ARRI) are the sharpest S35 primes ever built. The Supreme Primes bring this level into the full-frame era.

The Series

Super Speed (Vintage T1.3, legendary), Standard Speed (T2.1, robust), B Speed (S16, documentary), CP.2/CP.3 (Compact Primes, affordable), Supreme Prime (FF T1.5, modern-organic), Supreme Prime Radiance (with controlled flare). Historically: The ARRI/ZEISS Ultra Prime and Master Prime collaborations.

News

ZEISS Cinematography lenses have already received three Technical Academy Awards and shaped the visual design of famous productions like 'Lord of the Rings'. The current CP.2 series offers professional cinematography features such as gears and aperture control. Historically, the 50mm f1.4 Biotar was one of the first ZEISS cine lenses.
