The product range includes camera cages for systems such as RED DSMC2/3, ARRI ALEXA Mini/35, Sony FX6/FX9, and Canon C300/C500 Mark III. Standard threads follow the 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 norm, while rod systems are based on 15mm and 19mm diameters. The Zip Box Pro Mattebox works with 4x5.65" filters with a net weight of 1.8kg. Wooden Camera's UVF Mount weighs 340g and allows 360° rotation of the electronic viewfinder. All components are designed according to the 15mm LWS (Lightweight Support) standard.

History & Development

Founder Alex Gaspar established Wooden Camera in 2010, initially as a specialist supplier for RED camera accessories. In 2012, the company expanded its product line to ARRI systems, followed by Sony and Canon compatibilities in 2015. The breakthrough came in 2014 with the Zip Box Mattebox, which became an industry standard for compact productions. In 2018, Wooden Camera acquired viewfinder specialist Zacuto's UVF product line. Since 2020, the company has increasingly focused on cameras suitable for streaming.

Practical Use in Film

Wooden Camera equipment was used on "The Batman" (2022, cinematographer Greig Fraser) for ARRI ALEXA LF setups. The series "Euphoria" utilized Wooden Camera UVF Mounts for Sony FX9 handheld sequences. Typical workflows integrate the modular cages into existing Steadicam or gimbal configurations. The system reduces setup times by an average of 15 minutes per camera changeover. Disadvantages appear in extreme temperatures below -10°C, where aluminum components exhibit thermal expansion.
