Color grading control adding a fixed value to all tones, shifting the entire image.

Definition

Offset adds a constant value to all tonal values of an image. Unlike Lift/Gain, which emphasize specific areas, Offset shifts the entire image uniformly.

Practical Application

Quick exposure correction. Print emulation (film stock offsets). Color cast correction for uniformly colored material. As "printer lights" in log workflows.

Technical Details

Mathematically: Output = Input + Offset. Positive offset brightens, negative darkens. In the YRGB model, offset can be set individually for each channel. Can cause clipping.
