High-frequency fluorescent light system with extremely quiet operation and cold light character for interview production.

Technical Specifications

The Kino Flo 4x4 system consists of four 55W fluorescent tubes in a 120cm x 120cm housing. The color temperature is 4300K (cool, neutral light) or optionally 5600K.

Heatlessness

The minimal heat generation (under 30 watts) is the main advantage – no heat stress for talent during long interview sessions.

History

Kino Flo was founded in 1995 and introduced the "4x4" system for professional film production in 2003. The 20kHz electronics solved the flicker problem of earlier video cameras.

Practical Application

Kino Flo became the standard for TV talk shows and interviews. The cool light characteristic enhances factual presentation and reduces emotional coloring.

Variants & Alternatives

  • 1x1: For small sets
  • 4x4: Standard for interviews
  • 8x8: Large area illumination

LED alternatives like ARRI SkyPanel offer better light control, but Kino Flo remains relevant for heat-free shooting.
